Message Have you guys ever used a compressor map to correctly size your compressor to your engine? There are alot of factors when it comes to choosing the correct turbo for your application. 2 big ones are how much power do you want to make and how high do you want to rev. Garret and other turbo manufactors make all sorts of compressor for diffrent applications. Other factors are when do you want to start making boost, and when do you want to hit full boost by. All of this can be derived from the compressor map. It will give you a ball park figure of how to choose a turbo that will stay in its efficency range while still making the power figures that you are looking for.

As for the lag issue, most of the turbo companies that take a Garret or Mitsu turbo will plot their own turbine map in accordance with the compressor mao, they try and stay with in the pressure ratio of 1 (+/- .5) to 2 (+/- .5). Pressure ratio of the boost and exhaust. So when you buy a turbo they have allready matched a proper turbine section. What you have a choice in is A/R. Area devided by radius of the turbine housing. By going with a small A/R, say a 43 as to a 72, the your response will increase, but your top end will suffer, while going with a biger A/R will give you more power at top end, but it will be more laggy.

Also cam shaft porfile is also important. But thats another 20 minuites of typing.
